Starting XI v South Korea

Recommended Posts

Kim Jung-in, pfffft. They'll be more worried about this lot.

                                    Carson

McLaughlin          Cathcart          Evans          Lewis

Ward        Saville       Davis       Norwood       Jones

                                   Lafferty

Carson, Lewis and Jones all deserve starts. They also deserve to be part of a strong team, so the rest are pretty much what you'd pick for a competitive game. Giving Cathcart a start would presumably help with his recuperation.

I think he'll go with this line up

                                McGovern

McLaughlin          McAuley          Evans          Lewis

Ward        Davis       Norwood     Saville         Jones

                                   Lafferty

Think he'll pick a pretty strong team and will want to win the game.

Cathcart's only just back from a lengthy injury so would be surprised if he starts him. McAuley deserves to start and hopefully can get his 10th goal

Brunt's absence opens the door for Lewis and seeing the link up between him and Jordan Jones would be exciting.

Lafferty vs Washington is probably a close call but Lafferty's been scoring freely for Hearts and his height may be useful against South Korea.

Ward vs Magennis is another tough call. Might fancy Magennis for his power and height but Ward played extremely well for us against Switzerland so maybe has the edge

Think he'll introduce more fringe players in the summer games

Dallas def in for Ward, will Davis be fit not in Southampton's FA cup squad today? of not McNair to come in if fit

was Evans injured yesterday or as i heard off due to illness?

quite a few have played little or no football the past lot of weeks. McLaughlin. Cathcart, Ward, Davis, Norwood, add a few other squad players to that list too!

Carson

McLaughlin Hughes J.Evans Lewis

C.Evans Norwood Saville

McGinn Lafferty Jones

Assuming no Davis here.

Two rookies (Lewis & Jones) down the left but what the hell, it's a friendly.

With guys like Hughes & McGinn playing, it reduces somewhat the number of match-rusty players playing.

Haven't seen injury updates or anything but I'd go with:

McGovern (Carson in second half)

McLoughlin
Hughes (replace at HT)
Evans
Lewis

Davis (captain)
Saville
McGinn
Dallas

Lafferty
Boyce

But might also be good to drop the likes of Evans, Hughes etc. and try some unknowns but I think we'll be all out for the win here. Looking forward to see Saville again - thought he was excellent v. Cheatzerland away.

McGovern

McLaughlin Cathcart J.Evans Lewis

Ward Savile C.Evans Dallas

Boyce Washington

Would go with Cathcart beside Jonny as it could be our starting partnership if all fit come September. Half an hour or 45 minutes from the bench for Jones and McNair amongst others.

didn't see Davis in training, looks like Cathcart, McNair and Jonny Evans all will play a part, so could be as below with changes on 2nd half

Dallas & Jones getting forward to support Laffs

                                     Carson

McLaughlin          Cathcart          Evans          Lewis

Dallas        Saville       McNair       Norwood       Jones

                                   Lafferty

Pretty sad when we are concerned about players supporting laffs.

we sure are a team that badly needs a new striker fast.hopefully a win for us for the new bloods sake.
